I almost wept with joy yesterday when this young fellow called me. Here is someone who actually gets the opportunity of the market we are currently in. Let me explain.
It's my opinion that the time is ripe for trade up buyers/sellers. The prices have softened, the rates are record-low and the higher end properties are sitting.
So, this young guy has a starter property to sell. He indicated he thought it may be a good time to trade this to something more substantial and could I help him on both ends? I am delighted to represent these kind of people; I always hope to make myself as valuable as possible, professionally and interpersonally. As a first time seller, I owe it to this young man to thoroughly explain the value we as realtors provide, the costs associated with selling and buying and what our fudiciary duty is to them. As always, because a lot of my buyers/sellers were young last year, I have this MOM thing going on where I want to take extra care with them and be the first one they think of for referrals and questions, no matter how mundane the questions may be. I tell people right off....no question is dumb; there is a lot of jargin and legal-speak in real estate. My goal is always to talk straight without embellishment.
I'm excited to start this year off and for those that work and are organized, the year will prove fruitful.
